I wouldn't be surprised if that guy is in the same group as the guy that recently hit me. Hispanic, no lisence, prob no insurance, racing in a retarded place.
I was sad to see this in the news. I was hoping that no one that I know in the "scene" was involved. |

Lucky the other driver did not race him or he would have charges against him as well.
When I am challenged to race I slow down and/or pull over and stop. I make no attempt to even appear to be racing. |

So, this raises a lot of questions for me...
quote: A 19-year-old man was attempting to race another vehicle in South Austin on Saturday morning
Since the other driver didn't race, does that mean he won or lost?
quote: 7:30 a.m. Saturday
Find much street action that early in the morning when most "street racing" people are in bed hung over?
quote: he heard the Celica's engine and "knew it had something under the hood"
Well, what did you think, there was going to be a big empty hole?
quote: Erick Armando Nuncio-Moreno ... Maria Gaona De Corona ... Adriana Morales-Catalan
Why do people insist upon hyphenating their names, or having 14 of them? |

The trend these days that women want keep their last name and or hyphenate it with their husbands last name or moving their Maiden in the Middle. I donno why maybe they already have kids after their 1st marraige. Then they get divorced and remarried and all that $hit. But that’s not the point I was trying to make….
Sorry I got to pick on Ouija here. I have seen you a couple times on McNeil / Spicewood Springs this month. To the average person or cop you would appear to doing the following: Exhibition of Acceleration. I am assuming your setup its hard to accelerate slowly. Now if you were the other driver you probably said you couldn't hear the Celica's engine and "knew it had nothing under the hood".
Witnesses will have various statements. You would probably need a good lawyer and given your recent citations I think you would be toast.
Moral of the Story…Slow down, Pull over, and Stop because we still have idiots on the road that that Street Race and no clue how to handle 140 FWHP. When in dought put your grear in N or P. |

Because they are mexican. It's a cultural thing. |

this is a pretty good example why we need a track closer to Austin.
is it going to eliminate street racing? not by a long shot. but it could alleviate people so hard up for a race that they rev their engines at random motorists then fly off the traffic light like they're running for money.
But nah, this is Austin. We'd rather be "keeping it weird" and opening bicycle lanes and vegetarian restaurants...
then innocents die in a shat accident like this and people wonder "why would a 19 year old male, fed by popular movies to believe his econocar is a race car, do such a thing on public roads?"

What's really sad is that he will likely try to use that as an excuse against his criminal charges. I mean he ended two innocent lives. |

Doubt it will fly in court. Bail is set at $100,000 I am confused that they haven't mentioned the other driver. Perhaps he just made one of the most important decisions in his life.

a) You assume those people were innocent, who knows what they had done, or were going to do. (Playing Devil's advocate there)
b) They have mentioned the other person, and that they didnt' want to race. Just they are supressing his name to try and protect him from a media circus, etc.
c) They also haven't been mentioning the man's name who jumped out of the way that was also at the bust stop. Guess they are trying to be responsible for once. |

a) They were only innocent bystanders. What they do otherwise is irrelevant. I am sure we would have liked a couple of our aquaintences at the bus stop instead.
b) Good.
c) Good.
